    Review: Do I recommend Schmidt's Deodorant Rose & Vanilla? Yes, I recommend Schmidt's Rose & Vanilla deodorant. I recommend the stick and the aerosol, although I prefer the stick.  Today was a stinker! Wait, not literally. It was hot! It was 37 degrees Celsius (98.6 degrees Fahrenheit). To make it worse, I had to be in the sun with no shade, wearing black for twenty minutes. I chose the perfect day to write this blog! I have used Schmidt's Rose & Vanilla deodorant for over a year. It is not the only deodorant I use but my go-to. Today, I wore black on a hot day to tell you I thoroughly tested the product right before writing. Australian summers are serious business, and you want to avoid messing around with something that isn't going to keep you fresh or ruin your clothes with stains.  In the morning, I applied a generous amount of the deodorant stick. The website has one to two swipes, but I like the smell and put on more than four. The stick is creamy and glides on nicely in warm weather.  The one negative about this product is that it becomes too hard to use in cold weather. In winter, I switch to the spray version of this product. Schmidt's Rose & Vanilla spray is a good alternative in winter. Schmidt's spray does not irritate, cause a rash, or leave marks or stains. Schmidt's aerosol offers forty-eight hours of coverage , is eco-friendly and has an Ozone-friendly nitrogen propellant. It has a great scent and keeps me smelling like roses.  The main ingredients in Scmidt's Rose & Vanilla aerosol are:  Alcohol  Glycerin  Natural fragrance Nitrogen  The stick will come off your skin and leave marks on your bra, but I did not notice it despite wearing a short-sleeved black shirt today. I like that this product does not use artificial fragrances because it smells exactly like its natural sources. I went in there for galangal and came out with an overflowing bag of plant-based food and vegan goodies. What Do I Look for When Buying Fresh Galangal? Look for a smooth, firm appearance Avoid any that are dehydrated, wrinkled, or have spots Choose a size that will be easy to peel Smell it for a pleasant aroma Does Galangal Need to be Peeled? Yes, it is peeled in the same way as ginger. You can use a: Knife Spoon or Vegetable peeler I have found the knife to be the best option as the skin on the galangal that I have purchased has been thick and quite tough. How Long Does Galangal Last? It is best to store galangal in the refrigerator or freezer. Peeled or sliced galangal should be used within a week or two, as it tends to dry out more quickly. The whole fresh, unpeeled galangal can last for about 2 to 3 weeks in the fridge. Wrap it loosely in a paper towel or perforated plastic bag to allow airflow and prevent moisture build-up. Galangal can be stored in the freezer. Freezing galangal is a good option for extended storage. To store the galangal in the freezer, peel and slice it, then put it in an airtight container or freezer bag. Frozen galangal can last for about 6 without a significant loss in flavour or quality. The potency of flavour may diminish over time, even if properly stored. Therefore, for the best experience, use fresh galangal as soon as possible after purchase. Recipe 6 Ingredient Galangal and Coconut Soup (Tom Kha Gai) Ingredients: 2 cups of vegetable broth 200g (7 oz) of tofu, cubed 1-2 slices of fresh galangal (about 2 inches long) 1 can (400ml) of coconut milk 2-3 kaffir lime leaves (optional) 1-2 tablespoons of soy sauce or tamari (for seasoning) Instructions: In a pot, bring the vegetable broth to a gentle boil. Add the cubed tofu to the boiling broth. Allow it to cook for about 2-3 minutes to heat through. While the tofu is cooking, lightly bruise the galangal slices. This helps release its flavour. If you prefer a stronger galangal flavour, you can slice it more thinly or add more slices. Once the tofu is heated through, add the galangal slices to the pot. Here are some examples of well-known varieties and their origins: Granny Smith:  They are a tart variety with bright green skin and white flesh. They are a crisp apple with a firm texture and a smooth skin. Granny Smith are a great cooking apple and are used in many popular apple recipes such as applesauce. Maria Ann Smith first discovered them in Australia in the early 19th century. She was also known as "Granny" Smith.     There are so many laundry detergents on the market. Finding the right laundry liquid to meet your washing needs can be tricky. Most liquid detergents aren't cheap. The last thing you want to do is spend a bunch of money on a laundry detergent only to find it doesn't wash your clothes clean, irritates sensitive skin, is ineffective on tough stains and leaves residue, or you're not a fan of the fragrance. The decent price is very attractive compared to many of the other options available. But is it cheap or is it good? Well, friends, it is both! It does not have a pouring mechanism or measuring cup. The liquid is clear and has a consistency similar to most other liquids when poured. It has a fresh scent that is lightly floral but is not overpowering , and it does not aggravate my allergies. I started using this product many years ago as I had a reaction to a popular laundry powder. If you are looking for a light fragrance this is a good choice. Plant-Based Laundry Detergent for Sensitive Skin Earth Choice is gentle on the senses, your skin and your clothes clean.  Your washing will come out fresh-smelling without a powerful smell. I know some people like their clothes to have perfume from the washing, but I do not. I like my clothes to smell clean without a chemical scent. This is mostly because of allergies. On the occasions I want fragrance I use Earth Choice Fabric Softener. I have unfaithfully used Earth Choice for over a decade. At times, I have become distracted and want to try different laundry products, but I always come back. I like the liquid more than laundry powders as it does not leave a residue. Earth Choice is tough on dirt but gentle on fabrics. It may be unpopular, but I don't use hot water. I only use cold water to keep my clothes clean. I don't see a need for anything other than a cold wash cycle if you have a good detergent. I have used this detergent on both types of loader machines without issue.   Earth's Choice is effective at cleaning and can be used to clean just about anything. The only exception to the rule is my pet bedding. For pet bedding, I prefer to use a harsher deodorising liquid. I would not choose to use this liquid on anything else as it is far too strong and irritating. The dog doesn't seem to mind. Tough on Stains Stains would be another topic of interest. It does remove mild stains. For more serious stains, you will need to use a soak, or I like another Earth Choice product called Earth Choice Ultra Power Stain Remover . For perspiration stains, make-up stains, baby food stains and the like simply spray it on, rub it in a little, give it some time to work and then wash as normal.  Transparency and Consumer Trust Earth Choice provides detailed product labels and accurate ingredient lists, ensuring transparency for consumers. They have built a reputation for trustworthiness. Earth Choice Powder Detergent A long time ago, I used to use powder laundry detergents. I don't like traditional detergents. I stopped using powdered detergent, despite the lower cost per wash,  because I did not like the residue it left on my clothes. The nasty chemicals irritate my sensitive skin, not to mention the chemical waste. Another thing I do not like about traditional detergents is the artificial scent. I hate walking down the cleaning aisle because of the heavy scents competing for my attention. I have never tried capsule laundry detergents so I cannot comment on those.
